Clown 101, Building Character

Saturday July 26th 1-5 PM

Join Master Clown Michael "Tigger" O’Neill for a deep dive introduction to clowning and character! No prior experience necessary, all levels welcome! Come find out what it means to discover your inner clown and see the world through the red nose.

The four hour class will be broken up as follows:

Hour 1: Physicality - moving the body

Hour 2: Emotionality - emotional movement

Hour 3&4: Introduction of the red nose

Michael O’Neill is an acting, directing, Commedia Dell’Arte, clowning extraordinaire! He holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Theatre Directing from the University of Portland and is a graduate from the prestigious Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, as well as the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. Michael has taught at several local and international Universities and Colleges. Michael has enjoyed teaching Clown Commedia and physical comedy/acting workshops for over 20 years to students from 5 to 85 years of age. For 20 years Michael co-directed the annual Clowns Without Borders USA fund raiser. He has traveled worldwide and performed for over a dozen people. He is the founder of ArtBarn, a low income artist Eco village located in Southeast Portland. His newest venture is the Nomadic Ambassadors of Joy, a pilot program involving clowns and musicians performing for the aging population in assisted living residencies. He has a passion for teaching and educating people of all ages in the art of clown, commedia and physical theater.

It's a hedonistic rampage you won't want to miss! Join us for the feast, libations, performance, and play party. ADA accessible.

🤡If you would like to earn FREE ADMISSION TO THE CIRCUS, there are volunteer opportunities - 10 hours of volunteering = 1 Circus ticket. 🎪 Volunteer the day of the Circus as part of the set up crew, as a greeter, monitor, raccoon 🦝, cleanup crew, or join one of our Work Parties (see below)
